How an article gets published
- Sourcing. The writer works from the primary document — the agency release, the FCC or FAA filing, the contract award, the paper. Other outlets’ coverage is read only at the end, as a check that nothing material was missed.
- Drafting. The article states what happened, then explains the mechanism the source assumed the reader already understood.
- Verification. A second member of the team checks every figure, date, and factual claim against the primary document. Nothing publishes on one person’s reading alone.
- Edit and publish. The editor reviews the piece for accuracy, clarity, and whether the headline is fully delivered by the body.
- Correction. If we get something wrong, we fix it in public and log it. See Corrections.
