Most space coverage tells you what happened. A launch was scrubbed. A contract was awarded. A probe reached orbit. That reporting is fast, accurate, and available in four hundred places within an hour.
This site does something narrower. Every article starts from the primary document — the agency release, the FCC or FAA filing, the contract award, the published paper — and then explains the part that document assumed you already knew.
Why a liquid oxygen leak stops a countdown when a communications dropout doesn’t. Why the next attempt is Thursday and not tomorrow. Why a mission chose that orbit and what it cost to get there. What a contract’s structure says about a programme’s health.
The news is the reason to publish. The explanation is the reason to read.
How Factplay reports
Primary sources first. Articles are written from the original document, not from other outlets’ coverage. Secondary reporting is consulted only at the end, as a check that nothing material was missed. Where a primary source could not be obtained, the article says so.
Facts are attributed. Every figure, date, and claim is tied to the named document it came from.
Timing over speed. Factplay usually publishes the day after a story breaks. This site does not compete to be first, and would lose that race. It competes to be the version that explains the thing.
Errors are corrected in public. See the Corrections page. Nothing is quietly edited away.
